My name is Maja Cerimagic (pronounced Maya) and I am the owner of Breastfeeding Simplified. I am a Registered Nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS). My area of work has primarily been in Women's Health, Postpartum Health and Pediatrics and I continue to work as a RN and IBCLC within a large hospital system in Metro Detroit. Most rewarding part of what I do is supporting new families in their breastfeeding journey. Over the years working with families I have come to believe that breastfeeding is an unique and personal experience. "It is supposed to be natural, and it should be easy. It is what I'm meant to do." This inner dialogue is somehow wired into every new mother and when challenges arise it can be very discouraging. Often, getting off to a good start means taking advantage of the early prime days after birth to establish breastfeeding. When things don't get off to a good start it can be as simple as adjusting and tweaking your technique. Sometimes there can be more complex challenges that mothers and babies are facing and it is at those times that it is especially comforting to have someone there to coach and guide you along the way. I am a firm believer that my role is to provide you with the current evidence based practices to make you as informed as possible and to further assist you in meeting your own feeding goals.
I am a wife and a mother of two boys. Having experienced my own personal breastfeeding challenges have led me to pursue to become an IBCLC and start my private practice in order to assist other families who are going through similar challenges. My sincere hope for each family is to offer you encouragement, compassionate support, and a true sense of empowerment, while providing you with the tools you and your baby need in your journey. Parenthood is a incredible season of life and my passion is to help families navigate through the different stages with their babies throughout their first year and beyond.
